I know he was mostly kidding, but since we do have a lot of numbering systems at MIT, and since they make no sense to anyone whos not here, I decided to ramble at some length about them today. Confession: I am actually talking about the numbering system because Campus Preview Weekend is coming up soon. I love CPW, and this year I signed up both to host a prefrosh (it could be you! if youre a girl) and to lead a tour of my UROP lab. But the one thing I really dont like about CPW is that I suddenly have to convert to telling people my major in words instead of numbers, and I always say the words too fast and people cant understand me and I have to repeat myself and I dont like it. (You try saying biology and brain and cognitive sciences five times fast.) So Im going to teach you the numbering system, and youre going to come to CPW and already know the numbers, and I wont have to look like an idiot. Everybody wins! Course numbers. Every major at MIT is assigned a unique identifier. Most commonly, this is a number, but a few departments have letter names or letter modifiers. Students at MIT almost exclusively refer to their majors by number unless they are talking to someone whom they suspect does not know the numbering system. (Hey, do you guys want my paycheck for the week? What am I doing over here?) Ill merely add that Ill buy Jonathans description, and that its amazing how much detail its possible to use when learning material in upper-level courses. I went into 7.23 (Immunology) thinking, Man, what is this class going to be about? Ive learned about antibodies and B cells and T cells a zillion times in other biology classes. I just dont know what else there is to learn! And, um, whoa buddy, was I wrong. FYI: Immunology is really complicated. 4. Lizzy asked, So you said you had two professors e-mail you backhow did you turn down the one whose lab you didnt join? (I know my question sounds silly, but Im first afraid that if I try to get a position, no one will want meand second, that if I get any positions, Ill get more than one and I wont know how to respond to the labs I dont join.) Another question are there UROPs at the other biomedical research places in Cambridge, such as Broad and Whitehead? And finally, how does your boyfriend know the skiiers? (*is jealous that he does*) First, yes, there are UROPs at Whitehead (none at Broad that I know of, because the new building isnt done yet!). You just have to find an MIT faculty supervisor to get funding from the UROP office, and Whitehead faculty have appointments in the department of biology. Second, professors are usually pretty relaxed about getting new UROPs I dont think anybody would be offended if you got two offers and picked the other guy. After all, most of the professors are pretty good friends with each other. Personally, I think I just emailed the other professor and said I had taken the job in Morgans lab. The other prof, Yasunori, is on the same floor as my lab, and he still says hi to me in the halls, so I dont think he was too broken up over it! Third, Adam knows most of the US ski team because hes a nationally-ranked freestyle skiier, and hes gone to camps and competitions with all of those guys since they were little. (Hes probably going to Nationals again this year, which is over our spring break! Yay!) Im trying to twist his arm to get him to introduce me to the Flying Tomato, but so far no luck. 5. I personally have very little sympathy for people who claim to not be able to live in Boston because of the weather (and, lord, those southern California kids love to complain). Feedback, Test Anxiety And Performance In A College Course This essay was written to provide information on a study performed at Appalachian State University. The object of this study was to confirm or refute if immediate feedback enhances learning. The effects of three forms of test feedback were investigated within the necessary circumstance of a self paced, guideline based course in educational psychology. There were 88 participants in the study, but 15 students were unable to complete the course requirements, so their scores were not included in the report. These 73 undergraduate students completed seven units of work and were assessed by computer administered unit tests. The students were randomly assigned to one of the three test feedback forms being used in the study: 1. item by item knowledge of responses, 2. answer until correct, and 3. delayed feedback. Students received their assigned feedback during work on the first two units, then they were allowed to choose the feedback they preferred. Test anxiety was measured preceding to testing on Satason's Test Anxiety Scale and during testing on an item administered by the computer. Undergraduates who reported high test anxiety on the Scale experienced more anxiety during testing than students reporting low test anxiety. The anxiety during testing was not related to the type of feedback, and the two variables were not related to course performance on the second unit. Data collected at the end of the semester showed that students who reported higher test anxiety required more attempts to pass unit tests than those with lower test anxiety. When the undergraduates were asked they preferred the type of feedback, answer until correct. This preference was not related to the Scale scores or to being allowed to choose forms of feedback. Two strengths of this study are it's testing and the use of the random assignment. I feel that the times in which the administered the Test Anxiety Scale was an efficient time. If the Scale was administered afterwards then the students would have to look back, and the thoughts on their anxiety could have been changed by how they feel they did on their tests. The random assignment of feedback was a better choice than just allowing the student to choose. If the student was allowed to choose, they already would have some idea of what they worked better with, and that would not help in any way in the finds in the study, of which was bad and which was good feedback. One weakness of this study was that there have been others studies that contradict the findings in this study. After colts you have mens rugby this usually consists of a 1st, 2nd and 3rd team and the managers will select which you play for. : Local club/area  I live in Brackley in South Northants; we are surrounded by Buckingham, Banbury, and Towcester. There are many clubs in the local area, most of these are male clubs but there is one female club in Buckingham. I play for Buckingham RUFC U17. Most clubs all have youth and senior teams, most of the children who start of in the youth teams work there way up into the seniors. There are fewer professional teams as well but they do have an international side that has the same amount of tournaments and they also have a world cup. The rules of the game differ between the two sexes as well, for example in the mens game you can lift in the line outs and fly-hack, but in the female game you can do neither of these. This could be down to the men having a different build to the women, but in my opinion this is quit sexist, I believe that a sport that is enjoyed by the males should be enjoyed equally as much by the females at the same level with the same prospects. Provision for disabled participants- local/elite  Rugby for the disabled is a game that is played in wheelchairs. The game is played on a standard Basketball court using a volleyball, there is a goal at each end of the court. Wheelchair rugby is a game designed for tetraplegics or people with an upper limb impairment, and is open to people of all ages and both sexes. The governing board for wheelchair rugby in the UK is GBWRA. For other details please see the appendix. The mens game is watched worldwide thanks to Sky TV who pays to do this, so they are promoting the sport and supporting them by giving them money. The mens game has over twenty sponsors that support them by supplying them with equipment. The womens game is very rarely shown on TV. They have some of the sponsor that supports the mens rugby but not all of them. I think this wrong because the female game is just as good as the mens game but is not as widely known about because it has less publicity, for example the Female Six Nations, Englands female rugby team rarely on to TV as the male team have most of the coverage in their Six Nations.

In the history of ancient Egypt, Egyptians people divided their owned country into two areas.
